Faltering Faith: Sacrifice

One of my favorite Hymns from a young age and even until today has always been “Because I have been Given Much.”  It is based on the peom of Grace Noll Crowell. Let’s read some of it: Because I have been given much I too must give Because of thy great bounty Lord Each day I live I shall divide (my) gifts from thee With every brother that see Who has the need of help from me … Because I have been blessed by thy great love dear Lord I’ll share thy love again According to thy word I shall

Missing the Mark with Millennials

So, I had the privilege last week to attend a Church training meetings for leaders in our local area.  And while there was a lot discussed in this meeting, there was one things that spoke to me as both a faithful member of the Church and as a politically minded person.  The training was related to how do we as church goers reach Millennials? As part of this training they shared this interesting video that was put together by David Kinnaman.  Please take 3 minute to watch this.  Please use both your political eyes and your church eyes. The Veterans in My Life – Thank You

Somethings are harder for me to say than others. I think that perhaps typing them will make it easier, but it doesn’t.  I feel trite even bringing this up on Veteran’s day.  Because while I might not express it, I am grateful every day to the men and women who have fought to protect this country and thus protect my family and me. An Open Letter to the House and Senate

Dear Republican Congresspersons and Senators, For those of you elected or reelected this term, congratulations on your victory.  Whether you were reelected or if this is your first time having the privilege of representing your constituency, you have a great responsibility before you.  And while, I also mean the responsibility to lead our country and to help make it more in line with the constitution, I am writing specifically to ask you to keep the new President in line with Republican values and constitutional principles. During the campaign season, President-elect Donald Trump called for several changes that would be direct

No matter who wins…

No matter who wins this is my country. No matter who wins I will continue to love this place.  No matter who wins I will continue living here.  No matter who wins, she or he will be my president.  That won’t mean I will agree with their policies.  That won’t mean that I will fight for their agenda.  But I will fight to protect them as an individual and to honor the office that they hold. I don’t believe that our country will be in total ruin regardless of who wins.  I won’t think that this is the “finale” season
