Pillar One: Family

This is the first pillar in a series on a discussion about the seven pillars of any society. While I said that I hadn’t listed them in any order.  This one was first for many reasons.  Mostly because it is the subject closest to my heart.  I studied Family Science during my college days, and I think it is one of the more important pillars in any society. As it states in The Family: A Proclamation to the World, “the family is central to the Creator’s plan for the eternal destiny of His children.”  So, it warrants that we place

She’s Off to Serve the Lord

A little over 25 years ago, I left my home and family to serve a mission for my Savior and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It was a very exciting time for me.  I was probably nervous, but I can now only remember the excitement. It was something I dreamed of from the day I first learned that serving a mission was something I could do. I am excited again today for a similar but different reason. Last night, my daughter was set apart as a missionary for the Church to serve the Lord and her fellowmen.

Establish a House

A talk I gave in our Sacrament Meeting on March 18, 2012. In His infinite wisdom, our Father in Heaven sent each of us here to earth to live in families. The idea of a family was no mistake. It wasn’t just some random set of coincidences that led man into families. Since the beginning of man, Adam and Eve lived in a family. Their children were married and had families of their own. The House of Israel is a family. Lehi left Jerusalem and sailed to the Promised Land with his family. Even Jesus Christ was born into a

Happy Belated Birthday, Dear

Last year I shared with you what I got my dear wife for her birthday. This year due to my overall lack of posting new content. I neglected to share this gem with you on her birthday. So, this being the week before Valentine’s Day, and only a few days after her birthday, I thought it might be appropriate to let you know how much I deeply care for her. Not to mention my general boasting about the great present I bought. My dear wife does an excellent job cleaning the outside of our windows. It is always a great

Happy Birthday, Dear

Today is my dear wife’s birthday.  And I am so impressed with the wonderful gift that I got for her, that I want to toot my own horn for a minute on this site. Having made the decision to have a fairly large family.  At least, large by today’s standards.  We have to cut costs where ever possible. As part of this cost cutting venture, we don’t hire people to do any automobile repairs, unless we have to.  Well, the last time that my dear wife was out rotating the tires, I was so moved by the efforts she made.

Sandy’s Blog

Well, after following my blog for years, my dear wife has finally given into the addiction called blogging.  She followed my ill-advised advice, and used WordPress.  After a brief training session, she finally has a new post.  It is the talk she offered at her grand father’s funeral. So, please take a minute to check it out. Oh, and don’t expect much politics over there.  She doesn’t find it as interesting as I do.  But you will probably learn more about us through her blog, then you will through mine.
